Build a Flappy Bird Game
One tap to flap! Build the famous one-button game where you flutter through a forest of pipes — easy to learn, impossible to put down.
About this course
Every lesson is short, hands-on, and explained in plain English — no scary words. Each one ends with something you actually build, so by the end you'll have a real, shareable game and you'll understand the simple ideas (gravity, a tap, and bumping into things) that hide inside almost every game.
5 lessons
Your Bird and the Screen
Set up your game screen (the 'canvas') and draw a cheerful little bird floating in the middle. Think of the screen like graph paper where everything has an across (X) and up-down (Y) spot.
Gravity and the Flap
Make your bird fall gently on its own, then jump upward each time you tap or press space. This one little 'tap to go up, gravity pulls down' rule is the entire heart of the game.
Scrolling Pipes with a Gap
Build tall pipes that slide in from the right with a friendly gap to fly through. You'll learn to make pipes from one recipe and send a steady stream of them across the screen.
Crash! Collision Detection
Notice when the bird bumps a pipe or the ground and end the run with a gentle cartoon bonk. This is collision detection — the simple 'did these two things touch?' check games use everywhere.
Score, Game Over, and Instant Restart
Add a point for every pipe you clear, show a big friendly 'Game Over' with your best score, and a tap-to-play-again button so you're flapping again in a heartbeat. Then share it with a friend!
